President Obama: Stop Violence Against Muslims in Myanmar
President Barack Obama urged the president Thein Sein of
Myanmar on last Monday to halt violence against a Muslim minority and called for an
end to the killings of Rohingya Muslims in western Myanmar's Rakhine state. As
I wrote on last week’s post, the conflicts between Myanmar Buddhists and
Muslims have drew attention from all over the world. The violence by Buddhism
has caused at least 192 Muslims been killed and over 140,000 are still
homeless. Obama said praise economic and political reform is the primary goal Myanmar
should focus. Although president Obama show his concerning on Muslims, the
comments under the news make people upset. Many people criticize Obama on this
because it seems he is standing on the side of Muslims but not Christians. This
is sad that many people judge Muslim refugees as terrorists. As I said all the
time, most Muslims are no different from us, they want peaceful life but the
fact is they are currently homeless. How can people be so cruel and want to
wipe out all the Muslims just because their religion? This will only make them
become no different from terrorists, too. Give Muslims who in misfortune some
caring, all you need is love.

Buddhism and Islam: Why We Hate Each Other?
As I blogged on April 30th, Myanmar, a Buddhism country,
which its religion requires its followers to not kill and love peace. However,
the Buddhist monks extremely hatred Muslims and there had been several bloody
shambles happened. So why monks hate Muslims so much? Well, the primary reason is
hard to say, but many people think monks think Muslims are guilty because they slain
animals when they celebrate their festivals. Also, Buddhist monks think the large
sizes of Muslim families are dangerous and they are potential risks of society.
However, as I considered, because Islam is a niche religion in Myanmar and the
followers there are few, so Buddhists cannot take the risk that Muslims may
effects Buddhism’s dominating position. So in one word, whatever how the rules
says, Myanmar Muslims are just another victim in benefit conflicts.

Katherine Russell: Dangerous Muslim or an Average Girl
Katherine Russell, wife of Boston Marathon bomber suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev now is still under Fed's scrutiny and watching. From the Boston bombing until now, different news medias have different voices about Katherine. Most people think she is just a innocent average girl who just brainwashed by her husband and any over judgement is unfair. “She was a great girl, and a good student, and normal,” a person who is familiar with the Russell family says. Any story written about her childhood would be boring, the person assures a reporter. “She was normal.” However, because Katherine converted into Islam, some news medias think she also took part in the bombing. Anyway, we still can not judge a widow participated the terrorist attack or not depend on her religion, like my previous posts said, most Muslims are average people just like us.

Muslim victims of Myanmar: Conflicts and Homeless People
So as a Buddhism dominated country, I think this kind of tragedy is happening because the government has bias on Muslims. Because the government members in Myanmar are mostly Buddhists, so they may have hatred to Muslims even themselves. So I think if even the government of a country abandoned its niche religion believers, for those homeless people, there is no other way to survive but leave the country and ask for foreign help.

Muslims helped foil alleged Canada-America train bomb plot: They also stand on the side of justice
According to NBC News, April 23, 2013, a bomb plot which
target on a rail road cross America and Canada had been successfully stopped thanks
to the tip from Muslim community in Canada. The Canada police said that the bomb
plot planner Chiheb Esseghaier, of Montreal, and Raed Jaser, of Toronto had
been arrested. Muhammad Robert Heft, a Muslim community leader in the
Scarborough area of Canada's biggest city, told the Toronto Sun newspaper that
"There is going to be backlash,” because of the bomb plot and people will
concerning Muslim threat again. "But I want to reiterate. Who was the one
who tipped the RCMP off? It was our community." He said. Muslims are not
play the role of criminals and terrorists, many of them also stand on the side
of justice.

Boston Marathon Bombings: Don't Always Blame On Mulims
On April 15th, 2003, there were a bombing attack during Boston Marathon, two died and hundred injured. After the attack, the most questions people asking are"who is responsible for this?". American Muslim organizations are condemning the Boston Marathon bombings and urging Americans of all faiths to join them in praying for the victims and their families right after the attack. And CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper says it's unfortunate that Muslims are often instantly considered suspects in such attacks. However, Erik Rush, Conservative Columnist, made some bad Muslim joke after Boston Marathon explosions, and caused many people commented to against him.A Libyan called Hend Amry wrote, "Please don’t be a ‘Muslim.’" on her twitter, explained how sad nowadays many Americans think Muslims are always responsible for all bad things. Muslims are not criminals, they are average people like us.

Egypt Muslim Brotherhood: Be Hatred
For the Muslim Brotherhood, the long awaited dream come true
is turning into a nightmare. Having survived 80 years of persecution to achieve
power democratically, they suddenly find themselves the focus of widespread
popular hatred. Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, however, is not about to give
up and make way for new presidential elections. The Brotherhood will spare no
effort to stay in power. The civil war in Egypt seems caused deep effects in
economy and political crisis, and Muslim Brotherhood is hatred by anti-Morsi
protesters. The picture above is the riot in Egypt. The Islam in Egypt seems to
be treated as the threat of democracy this time.

Time Square protesters: all you need is LOVE

On Dec 17, 2012 in Time Square, New York, a pastor called
Terry Jones made an anti-Islamic speech. The speech described how evil the
Islam religion is, and it’s a time-bomb inside the America. However, not
everyone in Time Square agreed what Terry Jones said. There are some voices of
different opinions. People knew not all Muslims are terrorists, and those
protesters stood out and countered this speech by singing the Beatles. They
told Terry Jones a message,"all you need is love". Although people in New York
had being though 9/11, Time Square bomb and many threats by Muslim terrorists,
but most of they still believe Muslim is an important part of America, and that
is how different nation be together, become the United States of America.

Innocence of Muslims: Unfair Description

"Innocence of Muslims" is the title attributed to
an anti-Islamic movie trailer. The movie is reported to have been written and
produced by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, using the pseudonym of "Sam
Bacile".The 14 minutes trailer uploaded on July 2012 on YouTube begins
with describing the increasing persecution of Copts and poor human rights in
present day Egypt, including growing religious intolerance, sectarian violence
and church-burnings. The content is very anti-Muslim and the facts the movie
described mostly are nonsense. So the movie caused many Muslims protests in
many nations, through Islamic countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa as
well as the United Kingdom, France, Netherlands and Australia. Also the violent
mobs provided a backdrop and a cover for the terrorist attack that killed U.S.
Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three of his staff at the U.S. mission to
Libya on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. It is just so sad that a director’s unfair
opinion caused such big chaos.

Tragedy in Lahore:The conflicts between Christians and Muslims still happens
On
March 10th 2013, over 3,000 Muslims protesters who against Christians live in
Joseph Colony area in Lahore, Pakistan went on street. Later on the protest
turned violent and the angry Muslims protesters burned out over 100 Christians'
houses in the eastern city of the Lahore. The picture above is a Christian
family stand in their burnt house. According
the local police office’s report, 178 houses, 18 shops and 2 churches were
damaged by fires and hundreds of people became homeless. Although in the last
two weeks I was trying to explain sometimes Muslims are victims, the conflicts
they caused are still serious problems. Many Muslims, especially the Muslims in
middle-east area are easy to be in rage and then lock their attacking targets
on innocent citizens. The conflicts among Islam and other religions still
continues, and it seems no one can stop it.

Rohingya Muslims: In Danger and Homeless

For the week 2, I am going to focus on the Muslims in Myanmar. There are about 800 thousand Muslims in Myanmar, but the Myanmar government regard them as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. Muslims in Myanmar can not get citizenship and jobs. On Feb 1st 2013, because of the war ,130 Rohingya Muslims escaped from Myanmar by ship, but they got trapped on the sea for 25 days and 97 of them died of hunger. The picture above are the survivors in that ship. One survivor said that they paid 465 dollar per person to get on board. Although they know it is a dangerous tour, but they need jobs and a place to survive. The UN Refugee Agency also concerns the increasing death of Rohingya Muslims. They suggest Myanmar government should protect Rohingya Muslims' basic human rights in action. Just like what I said in week 1, although Muslims' religion may be different from the primary religion in many countries, they just seek a good and peaceful life like other average people, and most of them should not be treated like heresy.

Muslims: They are looking for a peaceful life like we do

Although Osama Bin Laden has been killed in action for almost two years, the problems with Muslims and effects from 9/11 still exists. It has been more than 11 years since 9/11, but Americans still very sensitive with Islam and they are nervous about the situation in middle-east. Start this week, I will focus on the stories of American Muslims and news about America's activities in middle-east. Although many Americans worry with the number of American Muslims keep increasing, finally they will affect even overwhelm America's normal life and safety. People think this guess is reasonable because their impressions of Muslims mostly are criminals and terrorists, but this judgement is unfair. Although there are differences among cultures, but Muslims' wishes for a good life should be as same as us. So I hope I can prove this throughout this semester.
